String flying geese

I've been trying to use up my scraps for several years trouble is I keep adding to the pile as I go also. However this project used up a good deal of the strings. I'm down to half of a grocery sack now but I have almost a full sack of crumbs. Here is what I got done today.

Finishing up UFO's

I thought I should not do the mystery quilt since I had so many in different steps of progress but I did anyway. I got this weeks steps done and looked around the sewing room was so full of piles here there and everywhere. Each pile was a UFO or unfinished quilt. So I got busy. Orca Bay finished ready to put on the quilt frame. Moms quilt off the frame, it only needed 5 rows quilted, got it trimmed and the binding made and sewn on. I was making a label when my 830 Bernina started acting up. Oh the spoiled thing it was just in the shop. Well I turned the thing off then back on now it is sewing away It looks like I might just get this one done.

Hummingbird table topper

I am having fun making these as I can get one done in a day. I'm working from my stash what fun to stitch out. Sewing on my Bernina 830E makes it easy. I am so lucky to have a husband who understand my passion for sewing and does not mind me doing it. He is my biggest fan.

I won

I won 2nd place last week at Fat Quarter Shop and this is what I got. Love it and would love to start pulling fabrics but a water line break has put a halt to everything. See the blackberries one day picking.

Eggs

I was cleaning around a dead tree stump left over from an ice storm several years ago and moved a piece of bark. Inside was mama lizard and her eggs. Lots of them. Later I got my camera and look she has moved a lot of her eggs. Today I checked and she has moved all of them. Good mama.

New addition to Farm

It was not running and had not run for 7 years and all four tires were flat. But DH took a chance and one week later after draining all liquids and repairs he got it running.
There are some more equipment that came with it I don't know what all. I'm ready to bring it home.

Making template

I got the pictures in the wrong order see the bottom one first.

This is how to make patterns on the computer using your printer and a design. I use a cheap glue stick and my iron. I think it is self explaining. This pattern is from quiltville.com http://quiltville.com/pdf/bonniesbasket6.pdf

thimbles

Thimbles a love hate can't do without them thing. I have many but these two are the go to one's. the yellow one I love because it wont hurt my finger. the metal one is generic from Hancocks or JoAnn's I like the rim hated that it hurt my finger. I had DH take it to the shop and hit it with a heavy hammer making it oval shape. That really helped. The finger in the photo just shows what quilting for too long a time will do to a joint. The box I love we found it at a junk shop someone made it from a drawer. I love how it holds thread I carry it to my easy chair with quilts to sew on bindings. check out Bonnies site to see more thimble stories. http://quiltville.blogspot.com/

Its coming right along. I'm liking it and the best thing is it used up a lot of scraps however I've more to use. I'm already thinking about my next project I'm thinking of finishing a UFO. Probably a good idea.
