Where did October go?

September was my last post. Gee where did October go? Well I have been busy so I guess I'll forgive myself. Here is what I'm working on. I had a time figuring out how to do the stars in the sashing but I think I got it. I'm waiting on approval on the setting before sewing the blocks together. Thats why it looks wonky.

HatchedinAfrica Peacock

This is my third try stitching out this Peacock. Still not perfect but what is around here. Its still pretty and makes a nice cushion.
I'm trying to finish up some projects that are cluttering up the sewing room.
I'd love to get it whipped into shape. Soon.

Marylee

All this needs is binding. Its really more blue than the picture shows.

While quilting with the garage door up this is what I saw along with deer and wild geese. I love the country.
He and his buddy have been hanging around for a week he has a very bad limp. DH has been feeding them so maybe they will hang around.
I wish I could warn them about hunting season. I'm not sure when that is but since he cannot fly I'm sure he is a gonner.

Jessies First Quilt

My daughter & GD came for a visit and the first thing they did was visit the sewing room to see what grandma was workin on. I'm sure to get first dib's on it If it was nice. Anyway I was working on Cuddlesome Critters from HIA and they are so cute. DD said I'd like these better on a print instead of muslin. I said have at it. They picked out fabrics and I showed GD how to operate the Babylock embroidery machine and by nightfall GD had enough blocks done to do this baby quilt. A very enjoyable visit. I wish it happened more often.

Monday, July 13, 2009

Two pretties that I got quilted this week. The Sue and Sam quilt is the first quilt this lady has made. I expect a lot more as it turned out very pretty. The repo quilt is just amazing over the whole quilt I'd say she was 1/4 inch off square. Very well made and a pleasure to quilt.

No wonder my flowers are doing so poorly. One doe in the yard and one wondering about getting in. Their fawns are nearby. Still have their spots. At least they do not have triplets again.

Another finish. One more to do. Then I hope I'm done for awhile.

This is a picture of a new friend Cheryl and Pat. Taken in June at a sewing retreat in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fun was had by all who attended. Cheryl was my roommate and Pat supplied us with sweet treats.
This was our sewing table Cheryl in back Thelma and Myrna in foreground.
Next is our instructor showing how to make a bag. Mine is not done maybe someday.

My first grandbaby got married last month and her shower is this weekend. The last stitch was put in today. I only had 19 years to get this ready. Its not the quilt I want to make for her but it was one that was ready to put on the frame. Her greatgrandmother and I made it so its special.

I thought It would look better right side up. I'm entered in a contest with this quilt. Wish me luck.
I was only able to make the deadline by being off the last two days. Back to work tomorrow.

Butterfly Dreams quilt

Its finished all except for the quilting. It sure is loud. I wonder what its saying. I bet one thing is I'm upside down. Help.

More butterfly progress

Progress it's all one piece now. I'm going to start on the borders now.

I'm thinking Batik's and narrow black or narrow black, batik's and black with smaller butterflys then a wider back. Too many options.

I finished another customer quilt and delivered it today. It sure was big. It hung over this queen size bed about two foot on the other side.

She only recently started quilting however she had always sewn. Age 82.

On my day off

Today was a day off work so I loaded this and got it finished. 4 more to go then I can start on mine.
Customer said we decided to get grandma's quilt top quilted. After I repaired and ironed it I was surprised at how lovely it was. All hand quilted. I'm curious to what the reaction will be.

Paula

Paula's quilt that I quilted today. A big one Dwarf's my queen bed.

My Bear's in the Cabin is coming along even tho I don't have much time to work on it. Surprising how much you can get done in 15 minutes.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Finally done. Boy has this past two weeks been hectic. Life sure gets in the way of quilting.
Mom's friend was rushed to the hospital in Oklahoma City and she needed to go and see about him. So two hours to her house then two hours to Ok C. Anyway I wanted to see him also. He is home after 5 day stay.
Then we went to Joplin Mo Two hours drive to see my best friend who is now hairless after starting radiation treatments. She asked me to make her some head wraps which I'm glad to be able to do. She called tonight and said it fit. Plus working 5 days a week. No wonder I'm tired.
The piecing relax's me.

Ugly Fabric & design wall

A friend ask me if I had a design wall and I answered no. But then sure I do. When next I needed one to figure out placement on this baby blanket, DH was still sleeping in the bed/design thing since it was 4-30 am I looked around and spied my board that is used to inlarge my ironing board (big board). Its only covered in cotton not flannel but they are holding on without pinning.
The fabric was in a friends stash that I inherited. I don't do blue so considered it ugly but needed a baby blanket and then there was this left over bunch from the DD quilt. I'll have to make 4 more of the gold brown. I found some red with baby chicks for the sashing. I guess this will be a stashbusting project since I have everything I need. Even the backing and batting, which I'll piece from left overs. I'm feeling smug about this project. And no I still have not gotten the borders on the DD.

Sunday, February 22, 2009

This is a project that I put up because I couldn't figure out how I wanted to lay it out. I guess I need a design wall or EQ6. Probably won't get either one.
The butterflys are from HIA and are really beautiful. The black and white fabric has butterflys on it. I looked for fabric that would show some movement but I didn't see it.

Half Square Triangles done

I finished trimming all the half square triangles.

It looks like a lot more than 192. We shall see.

Judy's quilt along

I've not gotten the borders on the DD but I'm excited about a quilt along with Judy L.

These are the fabrics except I forgot to put the Ecru in the picture but I have it. All except one are left overs from the Jorney quilt I made last year.

Thanks Bonnie

I was not going to start anything new untill I had finished two UFO's. That is until I saw Bonnie's picture of her mystery quilt. I fell in love. Hard. Now three weeks later, a record for me, here it is. I need to pick out two border fabrics. I'm sure I'll find just the right thing in my stash. I only had to purchase 1/2 yard of fabric the rest was in my stash.
We are iced in Everything covered in a layer 1 inch thick of ice. Brrrr. Glad for a lot of things especially a husband who cuts wood. I've missed a lot of work but maybe I'll get to go tomorrow. We will see what the road are like.

The first thing I was asked is, "who is it for?" Gosh I still don't know. Usually I know but this quilt isn't talking. Here is where I got the pattern. http://quiltville.com

Almost a year

Oh how time flys when your havin fun. Working and quilting and time just slips on by.

This I did for my son and wife. I hope she liked it. I had to work a lot so I didn't get as much sewing done as I'd hoped.

The quilt to the right I did for a cousin she likes it however she is only 6.

At least it is finished and delivered.

Her mom is making me a bag that is knitted with wool then felted. I'm looking forward to getting it.

This one is still a flimsey But I'm liking it. I had two grocery bags full of strings and I decided instead of starting a third I had better do something with them. After piecing it just begged me to add something else. Just the ticket I think. I don't know who will get this one probably the first person who comes along and loves on it.
I'm working on a quilt now called double delight a Bonnie Hunter design at quiltville.com. I just love her work.
